Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was recently mentioned in a May 14, 2025 WISTV.com article reporting that Democrat Lee Johnson plans to challenge him in the 2026 Senate race.

Graham continues to advance healthcare legislation, sponsoring the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (S. 339) in the current Congress, building on his previous Medicare-focused bills. The legislation aims to expand early cancer detection coverage for Medicare beneficiaries but remains in committee.

Fiscal responsibility forms another pillar of Graham’s recent legislative agenda. His Recover Fraudulent COVID Funds Act (S. 121) seeks to address pandemic relief fraud and is currently under review by the committee.

Graham has also championed public health awareness by sponsoring resolutions like S.RES. 692 in the 118th Congress, which designated National Fentanyl Awareness Day, highlighting his focus on addressing the opioid epidemic.

As Ranking Member on both the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in the current Congress, Graham maintains significant policy influence. He simultaneously serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senate Armed Services Committee, and Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

His chairmanship of the Senate Budget Committee positions him at the center of federal spending debates as election season approaches. Graham’s committee portfolio reflects his continued focus on national security, judicial matters, and spending policy heading into what could be a competitive 2026 race.
