From Intern to Staff Assistant
Aaron Joaquin Macias has been hired as a staff assistant in the personal office of Rep. Jack Bergman, the Republican representing Michigan's 1st congressional district. Macias started the position on June 1, 2026, transitioning from an internship in the same office where he spent the previous five months. His new role as staff assistant places him in a position supporting one of the House's most active committee members. Macias previously interned in Rep. Bergman's office from January through May 2026 before his promotion, and prior to that, he interned in Sen. Alex Padilla's office from September through December 2025. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and Latino studies from the University of Notre Dame, after graduating in 2025.
The Office He Helps Run
Bergman serves on three House committees: Armed Services, Veterans' Affairs, and Budget. On the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Bergman serves on both the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and the Health Subcommittee. Additionally, he currently serves as Chairman of the House Budget Committee Oversight Task Force.
