From Legislative Assistant to Director
Alex Schrøder has been promoted within the office of Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) to the position of legislative director, effective July 1. Schrøder brings extensive congressional experience across multiple issue areas, as well as more than three years of experience within Malliotakis' office. Previously, Schrøder served as a legislative assistant for Malliotakis from June 2023 to December 2025, and then as senior policy adviser until July.
Schrøder, who holds a master's degree in statecraft and international affairs from the Institute of World Politics, has worked across a wide portfolio of policy domains on Capitol Hill. The Republican staffer has focused on issues including armed forces and national security, international affairs, and immigration.
Schrøder has worked in four different personal offices during a congressional career spanning more than seven years, including the office of former Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY), the office of Rep. French Hill (R-AR), and the office of former Rep. Joe Sempolinski (R-NY).
The Office He Runs
Malliotakis serves on several key committees in the House, including the Ways and Means Committee and the Joint Economic Committee. She also serves on the Ways and Means Committee's Oversight Subcommittee and Tax Subcommittee.
The congresswoman has introduced several pieces of legislation this Congress, including H.R. 9990, which would amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to expand access to psychological and behavioral services.
