Why It Matters

The American Democracy Committee, a Super PAC linked to The No Kings PAC, poured more than half a million dollars into supporting New Hampshire's Democratic nominee Stephanie Shaheen in New Hampshire’s open 1st Congressional District seat.

The aim of the PAC is to "flip the House and Senate in 2026 to stop Trump from acting like a King." The Super PAC spent $752,400.89 in support of Stefany Shaheen who won Democratic primary for New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District. She will now face Republican Anthony DiLorenzo in the general election on Nov. 3. The seat is vacant because incumbent Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH) is running for the U.S. Senate rather than seeking re-election to the House.

Jay Petterson is listed as the treasurer of the American Democracy Committee, and the organization is based in Washington, D.C., the same treasurer and location listed by The No Kings PAC. The Federal Election Commission does not show a connected organization for the American Democracy Committee.

All of the money that the committee reported as being spent outside the election supported Shaheen in the Democratic primary. The spending took place on September 2 and September 3, with each of the three expenditures being made through Rising Tide Interactive and all being aimed at that particular race.
