From Intern to Press Secretary
Bethany Holden works as Press Secretary for the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
Holden's new position places her in the orbit of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who chairs the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
Holden brings nearly four years of congressional experience across multiple House offices. She started her Capitol Hill career in 2021 as an intern for Rep. Tom Rice, a South Carolina Republican. She served as Staff Assistant for Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC-3) from July 2022 to April 2023, and then served as Press Assistant for Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI-8) from April 2023 to January 2024. Most recently, she served as Communications Director for Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX-11) of Texas starting in January 2026, a role she held through March of this year.
Throughout her House tenure, Holden worked exclusively for Republican members. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Clemson University.
Legislative Focus Of Her Position
Cruz chairs the committee in the 119th Congress and also serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Senate Rules and Administration Committee. He chairs the Judiciary Committee's Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action and Federal Rights Subcommittee and the Foreign Relations Committee's Africa and Global Health Policy Subcommittee.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) sponsored S.5850, S.5851, S.5852, S.5853, S.5854, S.5985, S.5986, and S.6104. The committee is also handling bills addressing product safety, recycling standards, aviation safety, and emerging technologies.
