From Intern to Deputy Communications Director
Brandon Newell has been promoted to deputy communications director for Rep. Charles Fleischmann (R-TN-3), effective March 1, 2026. He began as an intern in July 2022, then moved into a staff assistant role from July 2023 to September 2024. He subsequently served as press assistant from September 2024 to August 2025 before becoming press secretary in August 2025. Newell also interned for Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) in June 2021. He earned a BSBA and BS in public administration from Lee University.
The Office He Represents
As Deputy Communications Director for Rep. Charles Fleischmann, Newell will support communications efforts for a member with substantial committee responsibilities. Fleischmann serves on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and the House Appropriations Committee.
