From Capitol Intern to House Staff

Charles Murphy, who began his role as a staff assistant at the House of Representatives on June 1, 2026, represents the kind of institutional continuity that defines Congressional staff changes in Washington. Murphy brings academic preparation to his position; he holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Virginia Tech, which he completed between 2022 and 2026.

Before his current appointment as a staff assistant, Murphy gained direct legislative experience through prior service. He interned for Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK-4) from May 2024 to August 2024, providing him with foundational knowledge of how congressional offices operate. As a staff assistant at the U.S. House of Representatives, Murphy takes on administrative and operational responsibilities that support legislative functions.
