From Press Secretary to Communications Director

Charlotte Hoffman has been promoted to communications director in the office of Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN), beginning her position in January of this year. She previously served as press secretary in Smith's office from December 2023 until January 2026, handling media relations and public communications for the Minnesota senator.

Before joining Smith's team, Hoffman built her experience through roles in several House offices. She worked as a digital and press assistant in the office of Rep. James A. Himes (D-CT) from January 2022 to June 2022, then advanced to press secretary in the same office from June 2022 to December 2023. Earlier in her career, she served as a caseworker and special projects aide in the office of Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) from July 2020 to February 2021. Previously, she interned in the office of Rep. Katherine M. Clark (D-MA) from October 2017 to May 2018 and later interned in the office of Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand (D-NY) from June to July in 2018.

Hoffman holds a Bachelor's degree in international relations and affairs from Tufts University.

The Office She Represents

As Communications Director for Tina Smith, Hoffman oversees communications strategy for a senator serving on multiple committees with diverse policy portfolios. Sen. Smith serves on the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, and the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.
