Staffer Rises to Senior Role in DeGette's Office
Evi O'Hara-Short has been promoted to senior constituent services representative in the office of Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CA), beginning July 1. The promotion marks a shift upward for O'Hara-Short within DeGette's personal office after serving as a constituent services representative since December 2024.
O'Hara-Short brings a background in public health to the role; she holds a BA in health and society with a public health focus from the University of Vermont.
The Office She Represents
DeGette serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where she holds the position of Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health. She also serves on the committee's Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and the Energy Subcommittee.
In the 119th Congress, DeGette has sponsored 15 bills, including the Protection from Cumulative Emissions and Underenforcement of Environmental Law Act of 2025 (H.R. 2995). That bill directs the EPA to take action on cumulative emissions impacts and strengthen enforcement of environmental laws. She also sponsored H.Res. 1285, which expresses support for broad access to mifepristone and calls for equitable medication abortion care policies. The resolution has 51 cosponsors, including 12 Democrats. With a background in healthcare, O'Hara-Short is well-suited to the role of representing DeGette's office.
