The End of an Era
Ed Buckham has concluded his tenure as chief of staff to former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), marking a significant transition in the Georgia Congressional staff structure. Buckham served as chief of staff for the representative from October 1, 2021 through January 5, 2026 (when Taylor Greene resigned), overseeing operations in one of the most high-profile offices in Congress. Buckham spent nearly five years managing day-to-day operations for Taylor Greene. After Taylor Greene's resignation, Buckham continued continued as chief of staff for the 14th Congressional District of Georgia office for an interim period from January 2026 to April 2026.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Buckham began his career in politics as a research assistant for the Senate Judiciary Committee Administrative Practice and Procedure Subcommittee in 1983, serving through 1984. He then transitioned to the House, working as a legislative assistant to former Rep. Daniel Crane (R-IL) in 1984 before moving to serve as legislative director to former Rep. William Cobey (R-NC) in 1985.
Buckham continued his upward trajectory in House staff, holding the position of administrative assistant to Rep. Clyde Holloway from 1987 to 1988. His role expanded significantly when he became executive director of the Republican Study Committee, serving in that capacity from 1988 to 1995. From 1995 to 1998, he served as chief of staff to the Republican Whip, a position that placed him at the center of House Republican leadership operations.
Buckham was appointed as chief of staff to Yalor Greene's office in October, 2021. During his tenure, Greene chaired the House Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency in the 119th Congress.
