The Background

Gracie Englund has joined the office of Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) as Press Secretary, effective May 1, according to congressional records. Englund comes to Scott's office after nearly two years working in communications for Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).

Englund built her Senate communications career entirely in Lummis's office, moving from Press Assistant starting in August 2024 to Deputy Press Secretary in February 2025, and then to Press Secretary in July 2025. Her tenure at Lummis's office coincided with some of the most high-profile moments of the Wyoming Republican's career, including the push for the BITCOIN Act and Lummis's role as chair of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets.

Lummis announced in December 2025 that she would not seek re-election in 2026.

The New Role

Scott sits on a broad range of committees, including the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, the Senate Budget Committee, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Senate Special Committee on Aging, where he serves as chair.

His recent legislative activity has spanned national security, China-related financial disclosures, immigration enforcement, and veterans' issues. His Veterans Accessibility Advisory Committee Act has passed both chambers.
