From House to Senate to House

Joel David Montgomery Jr., a seasoned Hill intern, has joined the personal office of Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL-15) as a staff assistant as of October 1. The move marks his third personal office in the 119th Congress, following internships with two other members.

Before joining Rep. Laurel Lee's office, Joel David Montgomery Jr. interned in the House personal office of Rep. David Kustoff (R-TN-8) and in the Senate personal office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS). The Lee placement brings him back to the House after that Senate stint, rounding out a first year in Washington that touched both chambers.

Montgomery holds a bachelor's degree in public policy leadership and global security studies from the University of Mississippi (Oxford), having graduated in 2026.

Lee sits on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee and chairs the House Administration Committee Elections Subcommittee. She also serves on the House Judiciary Committee Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Subcommittee and the Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet Subcommittee.
