Marconi Technologies was launched in May as a standalone, Canadian majority-owned and veteran-run defense communications company following the acquisition of Ultra I&C's Tactical Communications division by a Canadian investor group. The company operates across the United States and allied markets and develops tactical communications systems for NATO and allied forces.

The registration was filed September 3 and covers defense issues. The disclosure lists general defense-related matters and does not identify specific legislation. Greg Riels, Rob Wright and Brian Downey represent Marconi Technologies through Capital Park Partners LLC. Capital Park Partners describes Downey as the managing partner of its Washington office and Wright as the managing partner of its Austin office, both with extensive military and defense experience. 

Because Marconi Technologies only launched in May and its federal lobbying registration is new, the filing does not reflect prior reported federal lobbying spending by the company.

Broader Context

Marconi Technologies was selected to deliver Orion X650 high-capacity MANET radios to the Polish military, the company announced June 16. The contract, awarded with Polish defense integrator Enamor International, will provide mobile backhaul for 5G-enabled military communications and support Poland's defense modernization on NATO's eastern flank. Multi-year deliveries of the Orion X650 radios to Poland will begin later this year. 

The company also manufactures other tactical communications products, including troposcatter and satellite communications systems, and says its largest markets are in the United States and Europe.
