Trent Buatte Joins Adam Schiff's Office as National Security Adviser
Trent C. Buatte has taken on the role of national security adviser and counsel in the office of Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), beginning his position on July 1. Schiff serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, and the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. He also holds the position of Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Fisheries, Water and Wildlife Subcommittee.
Buatte holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and his congressional experience dates back to the 110th Congress, when he served as an intern in the office of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO). Schiff also received a J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law.
Buatte previously worked in the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, the National Security Council and the Deparment of Defense in various advisory and directorial roles. With Buatte on board, Schiff's office is positioned to develop more comprehensive approaches to national security legislation. The combination of Buatte's background in armed forces and national security policy, along with his academic training in public administration is a powerful one.
