From Legislative Correspondent to Legislative Aide

Samuel Murray has been promoted to Legislative Aide/Appropriations Manager in the office of Sen. Angus King (I-ME), a position he assumed on February 1, 2026. The promotion reflects a significant step forward for the Maine staffer, who has spent the last two years and seven months building expertise within King's Senate office. Murray's new role focuses on appropriations and a broad portfolio spanning Commerce, Economics and Public Finance, Finance and Financial Sector, Foreign Trade and International Finance, Housing and Community Development, Labor and Employment, Small Business, Social Welfare, and Taxation. He previously served as a Legislative Correspondent in King's office from March 2024 to December 2024, before transitioning to a Legislative Aide role from December 2024 through February 2026. Murray also interned in the office of Rep. Jared F. Golden (D-ME-2) from January 2021 to May 2021, and holds a Master's degree in political science from American University School of Public Affairs.

King, an independent senator representing Maine, serves on multiple committees, including the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
