From Legislative Correspondent to Special Assistant

Steven Buitron has moved into the special assistant/scheduler role in the personal office of Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), effective September 1, after approximately nine months as legislative correspondent in the same office. The move marks his fourth distinct position in Watson Coleman's office across the 118th and 119th Congresses, and scheduling for the Congresswoman will now run through him.

Watson Coleman sits on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee in the 119th Congress. The Appropriations Committee's subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies is among her assignments, giving the office a footprint on federal spending for infrastructure and housing programs.

Buitron has worked on the Hill since 2023. Before his legislative correspondent role, Buitron served as special assistant in Watson Coleman's office from May 2025 to November 2025, and as staff assistant from February 2024 to May 2025. He also interned for Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX-34) from October to December 2023.
