Two issues dominated Cotton's public messaging this week: defense investment in Fort Smith and domestic lithium production in South Arkansas.

On Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Cotton pointed to ongoing work with Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) to expand F-35 pilot training infrastructure. "Ebbing National Guard Base is crucial for training F-35 pilots," Cotton wrote. "Boozman and I have worked to secure more investments, like BL Harbert, to expand the training center and bring more jobs to Fort Smith." Construction on a new F-35 pilot training center at the base began in May 2026, according to reporting from 5NewsOnline and Talk Business & Politics.

On lithium, Cotton aligned with Gov. Sanders on reducing reliance on Chinese production. "Ending our reliance on Communist China's lithium production is a national security priority," Cotton said. "Proud to work alongside her to increase domestic lithium production in South Arkansas." Standard Lithium has announced plans to build a processing plant in Lewisville, backed by $225 million in federal grant funding, according to NewsNation.
