From House to House
Tom Wilkins has moved into the legislative correspondent role in the office of Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX-27), effective July 1. Previously, Wilkins served as an intern for the Congressman from January 1 to April 1, and as a staff assistant from May 1 to June 1.
Cloud sits on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He also serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.
Cloud has introduced legislation spanning defense, financial services, health care, energy, data privacy, and congressional procedure in the 119th Congress. He introduced H.R.10046 and H.R.10047 on Aug. 6, and both were referred to the House Armed Services Committee, on which he does not sit. H.R.10046 would authorize the Secretary of Defense to write off internal depreciation costs and debts at depots and arsenals when mission changes leave capital assets without revenue, while H.R.10047 would require the annual depot-maintenance report to break out spending by individual facility rather than aggregate figures.
