Christian Gentile has joined the office of Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) as a Military Legislative Assistant, according to congressional staff records. Gentile started in the role on May 1, covering appropriations, armed forces, and national security policy.

Gentile comes to Moody's office after serving as National Security Adviser to Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL-1) from March 2024 to May 2025. Before that, he held legislative assistant roles in the office of Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK-2). He also interned for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and for Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL).

Gentile holds a master's degree in strategy, cybersecurity, and intelligence from Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, earned in 2022-2023.

What He'll Be Working On

Moody sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, where much of the defense legislative action is centered. Among the senator's active legislation, the Drone Espionage Act has advanced the furthest, reaching the Senate Legislative Calendar after being reported out of the Judiciary Committee in February. The bill would update federal espionage law to explicitly cover video recordings of national defense information. It has 13 cosponsors, including Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).

Moody has also submitted amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 and to the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, both squarely in Gentile's portfolio.
